1. Etymology: Named for its resemblance to Homoeocladia schefterae, particularly in the periraphe zone areolae, 2. Diagnosis: Lanceolate valves with long slits in peri-raphe zone, break along edge of
valve depression; areolae on exposed valve-mantle opening by straight or irregular slits, differing from Homoeocladia schefterae in areolae on valve and girdle bands having S-shaped external openings and in having a costa on the external edge of the valve depression, 3.
