1. Etymology: The epithet (Lat. spinulentus = spinose) reflects the spinose surface of both lateral plates provided by rather long spines (compared to the small cell size)., 2. SEM-stub prepared from clonal strain 1-D3 (Holotype); Formalin-fixed sample prepared from clonal strain 1-D3 (isotype).
